Booking your first massage can be both exciting and a little uncertain if you’re not sure what the experience will be like. Whether you are considering a Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, or Thai massage, understanding the process can help you feel comfortable and fully enjoy the benefits of your session.
At My Thai Massage Too in Southwest Las Vegas, many guests visit us for their first professional massage, and we strive to make the experience relaxing and comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Before Your Appointment
Before your massage begins, you will typically complete a short intake form so your therapist can better understand your needs and preferences.
This may include questions about:
areas of tension or discomfort
past injuries or medical concerns
pressure preferences
general wellness goals
Sharing this information helps your therapist tailor the massage to your comfort level and focus on areas that need the most attention.
During the Massage
Once your therapist brings you into the treatment room, they will briefly review your intake form and ask if there are any specific areas you would like them to focus on or avoid.
After that, your therapist will step out of the room to allow you to prepare for the session.
For most massage treatments such as Swedish or deep tissue massage, guests are asked to remove clothing to their level of comfort and lie on the massage table under a sheet and blanket provided by the spa. You will typically begin lying face down on your stomach, with your head resting comfortably in a face cradle.
Your therapist will knock before re-entering the room to ensure you are ready.
Throughout the session, professional draping is always maintained. The sheet and blanket will cover your body at all times, and your therapist will only uncover the specific area being worked on, such as your back, shoulders, arms, or legs.
Massage treatments often begin with work on the back, shoulders, and legs while you are face down. The therapist may use massage oil or lotion to allow smooth, controlled movements and help relax the muscles.
About halfway through the session, your therapist will gently ask you to turn over onto your back. They will hold the sheet up while you turn so that you remain fully covered and comfortable during the transition.
Once you are face up, the therapist may continue working on areas such as:
the shoulders and neck
the arms and hands
the legs and feet
Some sessions may also include gentle work on the scalp or temples to encourage relaxation.
Communication is always welcome during your massage. If you would like the pressure adjusted or prefer more attention on a specific area, simply let your therapist know. The goal of the session is to help you feel relaxed, comfortable, and supported throughout the experience.

After the Massage
When the massage is complete, your therapist will let you know the session has ended and will step out of the room so you can take your time getting dressed.
Many guests report feeling deeply relaxed after their massage. Some people may also notice improved mobility and reduced muscle tension.
It is normal to experience:
a sense of relaxation or calm
improved flexibility
mild soreness after deeper muscle work
Drinking water and giving your body time to rest can help support the benefits of the session.
Your therapist may also suggest how often massage could be helpful based on your goals and areas of tension.

A Comfortable and Relaxing Experience
Massage therapy can be a valuable part of a regular wellness routine. Many guests schedule massages to help manage stress, relieve muscle tension, and support overall relaxation.
Whether you are booking your first massage or returning for another session, the goal is always the same — helping you feel refreshed, balanced, and relaxed.
